TOXIC TO DOGS:
Keep in mind that some ‘people’ foods can be toxic to dogs. Since many of the signs of toxicity are similar, consult your veterinarian without delay if your pet appears distressed, listless or in pain. The good news is that, in most cases, treatment for toxic poisoning can be successful if administered in time.
Many older dogs are relinquished to shelters at a time in their lives when they need human companionship most; often they live out the remainder of their lives there.
Adopting a senior dog typically has many advantages for pet parents looking for an animal companion who is already housetrained, perhaps obedience trained, socialized and easy to be around
An accurate "diagnosis" is crucial if you ever hope to solve the problem.

Gastroenteritis refers to inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, meaning the stomach and the intestines. It can be caused by infection with bacteria, viruses, parasites, medications, or even new foods. The condition often causes abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, and/or other clinical signs. This malady is somewhat common in Schnauzers, and is sometimes fatal.
It’s not a topic anyone likes to discuss, but if you own a dog, chances are you have found yourself cleaning up a stinking brown puddle (or, politely put, doggie runs) more than you’d care to think about.
Diarrhea is a common canine affliction and it varies in frequency, duration, and intensity from dog to dog.

Yesterday after a day filled with fun, fetch and swimming in Lake Windermere, Myself, Lucy & Tiggy had to say goodbye to our best friend Max. SchnauzerLife.com will be hosting an informative series on the first year of owning a Schnauzer. Watching social media questions about confused new owners was the driving force to put something into writing and video that was easy to understand, and solid informative advice from a team of owners who have over half a century of owning, breeding, and raising Schnauzers.

So, I’m pleased that people are interested in this important issue and trying to learn about it.
Have you ever had one of those moments where what you know and what you actually do in real life don’t align? That’s what happened to me the day I gave my dog Luke an antler to chew. A client had given me the deer antler because her dog wouldn’t go near it. But my dog, who must be part T. rex in his ancestral heritage, was more than happy to chomp the antler. And, from the look on his face, he’d p…
You already know that dogs’ sense of smell is way keener than our own. But just how keen their sense of smell is might come as a surprise.
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure in their home. As I prepared, the parents told me they thought it would be good for 6 yr old Shane to observe the procedure.

DANVILLE, Calif. (KTVU) - A Danville couple is questioning the vetting process of walkers hired through a popular dog-walking app after home video appears to capture a man kicking and whipping their family pet. What makes them worry even more is that the on-demand dog-walking service, Wag, only conducts background checks on applicants once before they are hired and does not do continuous checks.
