Ok.... crazy news, but this is important news for all members
The Arrow Reliance pet food processor was given notice for 2 different recalls of a majority of their RAW pet food line of ship-to-home meals due to Listeria contamination. The FDA advises consumers to wear rubber gloves when handling, and to place inside TWO plastic bags before disposing.
The second recall was due to the FDA finding eColi and salmonella contamination in the processing lines as well as unopened foods already packaged.
Upon lab analysis, they discovered the use of the use of peroxyacetic acid (PAA) in its pet food formulas. The FDA deems PAA to be an “unapproved/unsafe animal food additive, however, Arrow Reliance says it uses the additive as a pathogen mitigation method to reduce the risk of E. coli and Salmonella in its raw pet food formulations.
Before you decide to do RAW feeding, realize that the processing facilities package for a dozen different companies. Be careful and get on the recall alert lists for text notification on the food you feed your dog.
