It's time for another discussion of every dog parent's favorite subject — poop eating! The scientific name for this seriously disgusting habit is coprophagia, and it's quite common among dogs. Cats do it occasionally, too, but not nearly as often as their canine counterparts.
TOXIC TO DOGS:
Keep in mind that some ‘people’ foods can be toxic to dogs. Since many of the signs of toxicity are similar, consult your veterinarian without delay if your pet appears distressed, listless or in pain. The good news is that, in most cases, treatment for toxic poisoning can be successful if administered in time.
Many older dogs are relinquished to shelters at a time in their lives when they need human companionship most; often they live out the remainder of their lives there.
Adopting a senior dog typically has many advantages for pet parents looking for an animal companion who is already housetrained, perhaps obedience trained, socialized and easy to be around
An accurate "diagnosis" is crucial if you ever hope to solve the problem.

Gastroenteritis refers to inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, meaning the stomach and the intestines. It can be caused by infection with bacteria, viruses, parasites, medications, or even new foods. The condition often causes abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, and/or other clinical signs. This malady is somewhat common in Schnauzers, and is sometimes fatal.
