It is something that few of us have taken the time to think about, and it is eye opening when you realize how long they have operated with out ever being challenged. When you see that the average lifespan of canines in the USA has been on a continuous decline, with some breeds like Golden Retrievers (once enjoying up to 16yrs of life) now averages less than 9 years.
